ADVE2292 GDP: Project 6 Mailer
Marco Battaglini is one contemporary artist taking the world by storm in Costa Rica. Born in Italy in 1969, and moving to Costa Rica later in his life, the popular form of street art inspired him to an entirely new form of art. His specialty is anti-aesthetic, combining the divine and refining it with the vulgar. He takes classical paintings and adds his touch of street art to create an entirely new piece. Battaglini asks his viewers to think about the ‘democratization’ of culture, the evolution of knowledge, information immediacy, and heterogeneity. From those, he demands that we must have an understanding beyond our geographical boundaries of time.
